Kristi D.A. Matthews, Esq. is an Associate City Attorney for the City of Atlanta in the Employment and Litigation practice group. Matthews is a 2006 graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law.  Matthews earned her BA in Political Science and Theatre from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA in 2001.  She was a recipient of the 2002-2003 Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Fellowship.

 As a Rotary Fellow, Matthews studied at the University of Leeds in Leeds, England where she received her MA in International Politics in 2003. During her law school career, Matthews interned as an in-house counsel summer associate with the Occidental Petroleum Corporation. She was also selected to be a judicial extern for the Honorable George P. Schiavelli, in the U.S. District Court of Southern California.  Mathews has also served in many leadership roles during her law school career. She was elected president of the local Black Law Students Association, board member to the Student Bar Association, and a director to the Graduate Student Association at UCLA. Matthews was also elected by her peers to serve as the Western Regional Chair for the National Board of the Black Law Students Association.

Matthews was born in Franklin, Louisiana, and moved to Houston, TX, before attending college in Atlanta, GA, Leeds, England, and Los Angeles, CA. Matthews places great value and emphasizes her commitment to community service through mentoring youth and motivational speaking. Before attending law school, Kristi was the coordinator of the Rotary HIV/AIDS Program, founded by Rotarian Marion Bunche. The Rotary HIV/AIDS Program seeks to provide education, increase awareness, and prevention of HIV/AIDS. To date, this program has reached over half a million school age children in Georgia and some surrounding states. Kristi plans to pursue a career in litigation with plans of becoming a U.S. Ambassador to a foreign state as her ultimate goal.
